At Peace Lutheran Church, Confirmation is an exciting, interactive journey that begins with an orientation meeting in the
spring of the student’s fifth-grade year. The experience includes:
Large group presentations with pastors and the Director of Confirmation Ministries
Small group discussions facilitated by caring adult volunteers
Regular worship, including reflection on as well as participation in worship services
Volunteer/service project opportunities both at church and in the community
Lock-ins, Retreats, and Workshops
On Wednesday nights during the school year, sixth- and seventh-graders can meet during 3 different sessions; eighth-graders meet from 8:00 to 8:45 p.m.; and ninth-graders meet from 8:00 to 9:00 p.m. In September and October, tenth-grade students meet for special workshops and a tour before participating in the Rite of Affirmation Service. Then these students meet with an adult mentor once a month through April.
Through study – Old and New Testaments, Luther’s Small Catechism, and Lutheran Theology and Doctrine – through relationships built with others, and through experiences gained by doing service projects and volunteering, we strive:
to instill in our youth a desire for lifelong learning,
to affirm their salvation as a free gift from God,
and to equip them to live out their calling as part of the body of Christ.
